Inspiration: Living Room

As promised, here are some photos I've been gathering as inspiration for the living room.

I didn't even realize that I was drawn to the yellow/orange color palette until I put these pictures all next to each other.

I should also note that my favorite pictures are the bottom two. The rooms feel warm, airy, and welcoming. They're full, but not cluttered and they have a nice mix of modern and traditional.

But more importantly, I think it's important to work with what you have. I don't want to impose a style on the house or for the decorating to feel forced.

Wish me luck!

Meet My Living Room

I'm back! You were worried this would be a one-post blog, but never fear, the Austin decorator is here!

...And, she could use your advice.

The thorn in my side has been my living room. We spend so much time in this room, yet it's the room that puzzles me most when it comes to decorating. It's small, an odd shape, and the front door opens right into it. Don't get me wrong, I love this little room, but it needs serious help.

Below, I've got a nearly-to-scale drawing of the living room as it currently stands. To start with, I imagine us purchasing a coffee table, a chair, a tv console, and maybe even a sofa table, if we could actually get it to fit in the room.

So let's talk about furniture placement! Please send me any ideas you have for the space, because I'm in need of some good advice. In my next post, I'm hoping to put up some inspirational pictures from other websites I've been enjoying.

Happy Decorating!
